Abstract:

Contains papers and records related to Denise Lubett's work as a fine press bookbinder in London, England including work orders, designs, drafts, drawings, sketches, photographic proofs (8 x 10, black and white) and color slides of finished works, various other color slides and color negatives, one 8 x 10 black and white contact sheet showing Lubett at work in her studio, unarranged index card notes, and a small number of other items such as leather samples, three trade periodicals containing photos of her work, and a bookbinder's guild exhibition catalog titled "Designer Bookbinders 1974" that featured some of her work.

Denise Lubett (born 1922 in Paris, France) was a British citizen who studied bookbinding under John Corderoy at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts (1964) and at the London College of Printing. She set up her own binderies in London, England and France in 1966. In 1971, she was elected to membership in the society of Designer Bookbinders, a guild association of fine press bookbinders.
